Principle and Scope of Chiropractic Work

The American Chiropractic Association defines chiropractic as follows:
"Chiropractic is that science and art which utilizes the inherent recuperative powers of the
body and the relationship between the musculo-skeletal structures and functions of the body,
particularly of the spinal column and the nervous system, in the restoration and maintenance
of health."
Thomas A. Edison, the great inventor, was a patient and steadfast
advocate of the chiropractic care. He once stated:
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest
his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."
Doctors of chiropractic employ a method of healing which gives particular
attention to the structural and neurological aspects of the body, particularly the spine, in
the prevention and treatment of human ailments using spinal adjustments, to correct vertebrae
subluxations, corrective exercises, regulation of diet, food supplementation, rest and proper
hygiene for the restoration of health.
