Chiropractic Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage is a gentle therapy that calms the nervous system and increases circulation, creating a cascade of beneficial effects. Research shows that massage decreases muscle tension, stress, and can help alleviate the following conditions.

Stress – Massage therapy can reduce stress and give you more energy, improve your outlook, and reduce the likelihood of injury and illness. Massage helps to lower blood pressure and heart rate, improves circulation, and drops anxiety levels.

Tight and Painful Muscles – Massage can stretch and knead away muscle tension. From short-term muscle cramps to a habitually clenched jaw or tight shoulders, massage sends messages to the muscles in the body to relax and let go. By effectively reducing muscle soreness and swelling, this restores muscle integrity and full range of motion.

Exercise Soreness – Exercise can build-up waste and microscopic tears in the muscles that can leave you feeling tired and sore. Massage cleanses the tissues of irritating wastes and returns nutrients and oxygen to relieve pain and promote speedy recovery. Massage helps maintain balance between flexibility and strength and prevention of future injury.

Injuries – Massage can help heal injuries such as tendinitis, ligament sprains and muscle spasms. It reduces inflammation and swelling by removing wastes and brings healing to injured cells. Massage improves the rate the body recovers from injuries by making old scar tissue more pliable and in new injuries, limits its formation.

Postural Problems – Massage releases restriction in muscles, joints, and surrounding connective tissue coverings called fascia. This frees the body to return to a more natural posture and promote body awareness.

Restriction in Joints – Massage relieves tight muscles that restrict joint movement. It also increases circulation to the joints which can improve their general health and natural lubrication.

What You Can Expect at Your First Visit

  • Completion of health information form, HIPPA, and cancellation policy
  • Opportunity to meet and discuss your condition and expectations with Licensed Massage Practitioner
  • Massage Practitioner will discuss therapeutic massage techniques
  • Communicate with the massage practitioner. Massage on normal tissues is usually pleasant. In an area of injury or chronic pain, there can be some initial discomfort which usually subsides quickly. The massage practitioner is educated to minimize pain without sacrificing effectiveness. Tell the practitioner if you feel any discomfort, so the technique approach can be adjusted.
  • Following treatment, it is important to apply ice for 20 minutes if you are sore. The cold sedates the nerves and breaks the cycle of muscle spasms. Ice helps to flush out toxins and allows blood to return to the area of soreness. This promotes faster healing.
  • It is important to drink plenty of water following massage. This hydrates the body with extra fluids to start the healing process.
  • The practitioner can recommend stretches if appropriate to work as a supportive home exercise program.
